Central Axis
Central Axis is a solo exhibition at Spazio Spuma, Venice, that brings together a group of sculptural works shaped by reflection and by their relation to one another. Conceived as a spatial ensemble open to reconfiguration, the exhibition explores how meaning is produced through relation to the environment.
Reflective surfaces incorporate both their surroundings and the image of the individual, creating a field in which subject, object, and space are continuously affected by one another. The works gain meaning through these shifting relations, through what they reflect, interrupt, conceal, and return to view.
Just as soil and water are necessary elements to activate a seed, movement and light are necessary elements to activate and understand these pieces. Through this interplay, the exhibition considers how form emerges through relation, reflection, light, and movement, and how perception is shaped by the conditions in which it appears.
Initial view
Midway through the exhibition, the reflective sculptures in Room 2, first presented as autonomous works on individual pedestals, were moved onto a single shared platform. The new arrangement brought them into closer relation with one another and with the viewer, turning separate pieces into a shared composition of balance and spatial tension.
